If you want to learn more about the inner workings of your Windows PC, you need only run the free and portable application WinAudit. You see, this is an inventory utility for Windows computers. When you run it, it gathers info about your PC and puts it in a detailed, comprehensive report. Lots of details are included in said report: system overview, installed software, hardware devices, installed printers, startup programs, and many, many more.

As mentioned above, WinAudit is a portable application. This means you won’t have to go through an installation process to get started with WinAudit. All you have to do is download an executable and run it. Do so and WinAudit will analyze your system, generate a report, and display it on its interface – a tabbed interface that provides support for multiple languages, and is quite easy to navigate.

The following categories are analyzed by default by WinAudit: system overview, installed software, operating system, peripherals, security, groups and users, scheduled tasks, uptime statistics, error logs, environment variables, regional settings, Windows network, network TCP/IP, hardware devices, display capabilities, display adapters, installed printers, BIOS version, system management, processor, memory, physical disks, drives, communication ports, startup programs, services, running programs, ODBC information.
The following categories are on the list, but are not analyzed by default: software metering, user logon statistics.

WinAudit is free software.

I don’t see what’s not to like about WinAudit. It is portable, it has an easy to navigate interface, it creates a detailed report that can be analyzed or exported, and it is free.

Pros

WinAudit does not have to be installed; the application is portable. The tabbed interface provides support for lots of languages. The interface is easy to navigate. You can pick and choose the categories that will be analyzed by WinAudit. The application generates a comprehensive report that can be analyzed, exported, or sent by mail. WinAudit is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
